Jaguar gearing up to launch an all-electric sedan next year: report

As British automaker- Jaguar is gearing up to launch its first all-electric vehicle, the Jaguar I-Pace later this year, reports are already doing around that the automaker is also planning to launch its second all-electric vehicle as soon as next year.

The I-Pace is an SUV, but the second vehicle would be a sedan taking the form of an all-electric Jaguar XJ reports Autocar.

The publication notes that it has “learned that the decision has been taken to replace it, despite the tougher market for luxury saloons in the face of the rising popularity of luxury SUVs. However, it is being replaced not with a like-for-like model but with one that reinvents the very idea of a luxury saloon as an electric car and can act as a high-tech flagship for Jaguar.”

The vehicle would launch by the end of the year and reach the market in 2019, according to the publication.

Jaguar seems to be quite serious about electric vehicles after it announced of adding electric powertrains to all new cars by 2020. According to industry experts these kinds of announcements from automakers can often mean a focus on hybrids and the report can be considered true that they are already planning a second all-electric car right after the I-Pace.

Jaguar I-Pace is expected to be around $75,000 range before incentives. When launch it would compete against the likes of Tesla Model X.
