Mahindra to launch three new high-performance electric cars soon: Report

India’s electric vehicle manufacturing giant Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly gearing up to launch three new electric cars soon.

The company will have three new offerings in the space by 2019-20 reports TOI. According to the report Mahesh Baby, CEO , Mahindra Electric speaking at seminar in national capital said that the company is planning to have three new high performance cars in the electric vehicle (EV) space.

The high performance cars are expected to have top speeds of 186 kmph, 150 kmph and 190 kmph and will go from 0-100 kms in 9, 11, and 8 seconds respectively. The range for these cars would be 350 km, 250 km, and 300 km.

The announcement came at a time when the government of India is targeting to become 100 percent electric vehicle nation by 2030. Speaking about the government’s target Mahesh Babu in an exclusive interview to Climate Samurai said “If India achieves even 20% of the vision articulated, it will translate to big volumes for the EV industry and a significant progress towards the EV system at large. Certain segments like 2&3 wheelers, fleet 4 wheeler and city transport buses have a high potential to achieve the full electric mark by 2030.  As pioneers of EVs in the country, we are very happy to contribute to this cause!”

Currently Mahindra has fours EVs e2o (hatchback), eVerito (sedan), eSupro (mini-van) and eAlfa mini (rickshaw) under its EV stable.
