Oral hearing on India’s anti-dumping investigation into imports of solar cells and modules from China, Taiwan and Malaysia will now be held on December 12.
According to the notice issued by the Directorate General of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) to the domestic industry and other parties, the oral hearing will be chaired by Sunil Kumar, IAS, additional secretary and designated authority, in New Delhi.
Earlier the oral hearing was scheduled to be held on 30th November, 2017 at 3:00pm in DGAD conference room. However, the legal representative of the domestic industry have sought postponement of the hearing citing their inconvenience to attend the same and now the hearing has been rescheduled on 12 December, 2017.
Bridge to India in its latest report said that the domestic manufacturers have been struggling because of their inability to compete on price with Chinese manufacturers. Most of them have sub-scale capacities, high cost base and are completely reliant on imported technology and raw materials. Imposition of ADD or provisional duty exceeding 10% shall enable them to price at profitable levels and increase production.
