Separate certificate for solar pumps is not required: MNRE

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) issuing a notice brought clarification on the test reports and certification of solar pumps under the Solar Pumping Programme of the Ministry.

The ministry in its notice said “It has been brought to the notice of this Ministry that implementing agencies under the Solar Pumping Programme of the Ministry is asking for separate test report for different pump heads i.e. if a pump of 5 HP is already tested for 75 m head, the implementing agencies are insisting for separate certificate for 20 m and 50 m heads also.”

The ministry noted that if an agency has a test report for a particular capacity solar pump for a particular head, there is no requirement of separate test reports for the same pump model up till the heads for which the test report is already available.

Shobhit Srivastava  in a statement said, “In this regard, I am directed to convey that under the solar pumping programme of MNRE, if an agency has a test report for a particular capacity solar pump for a particular head, there is no requirement of separate test reports for the same pump model up till the heads for which the test report is already available. For example, if a pump of X HP has test report for a head of Y meters, a separate test report is not needed for the same model pump of X HP for heads less than Y meters.
