TrinaBESS unveils “one product fits all” residential energy storage solution by adding off-grid capability in the US

TrinaBESS, the energy storage company of Trina Solar, unveils the off grid capability for its TrinaHome S Series – US Edition.

The energy storage system becomes one of the first “one product fits all” solutions available on the market. The system can be grid-tied, off-grid and AC or DC coupled, with the same device. Combined with its current on-grid functions, the off grid capability enables the battery to recharge from the solar system while the grid is out, and automatically returns to on-grid mode when the grid is back on for self-consumption, peak shaving, time-of-use load shifting or non-export functions. The products are now available in the US for immediate delivery.

“Currently, most residential energy storage solutions on the market provide only backup power for a couple of hours, until the battery fully discharges in the case of a power outage.” Said Anne Torricelli, Director Energy Storage, North America at TrinaBESS. “With this off-grid feature, the energy storage system can continuously recharge from PV and provide power to the entire house for an extended period of time, if not for the entire life of the system.”

“Most residential energy storage solutions on the market are either grid-tied or off-grid. The TrinaBESS solution enables both. This is the perfect answer for short term or long term power outages.” Said Frank Qi, General Manager at TrinaBESS. “After two devastating hurricanes in Puerto Rico, some remote areas might not be able to access the grid for years. Our system can be installed and self -start without the grid. This will enable homes to use the same system when the grid becomes available again.”

With 98% peak efficiency and multi-function in the US market, including off-grid capability, the new TrinaHome S Series – US Edition comes with a power rating of 5kW and a battery capacity of 12 kWh. The product is designed to respond to American grid requirements and the UL, IEEE, CA rule 21 and HECO standards.
