Watch: LMRC starts using solar power to light up metro stations and depot

Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) has started using solar power to light up metro stations and depot.

LMRC has installed solar PV cells at Transportnagar deport to generate 1MW solar energy daily.

According to ET the power generated from 1MW solar power plant is used to run lights, ligts, escalators, air conditioners at functional eight metro stations and the depot.

Surplus energy produced from the solar power plant is being fed into the depot’s grid and would be used later to supply power to the upcoming metro station on the North-South corridor.

The publication notes that LMRC is building another sub-station at Munshipulia that would generate solar energy.
