Winning tariff at Gujarat wind auction remains at Rs 2.80 per unit: Report

Winning tariff at the Gujarat wind auction remained unchanged at Rs 2.80 per unit in the 745 MW of capacity awarded by the state’s utility on Monday.

In February the Wind auction conducted by the renewable energy ministry had tariff in the range of Rs 2.82 to Rs 2.83 per unit.

Enerfra bagged 40 MW of capacity at Rs 2.80 per unit, and Powerica and Vena won 50 MW and 100 MW capacities, respectively, at Rs 2.81 per unit, while France’s EDF, Renew Power, Adani and Inox Wind tariffs were in the Rs 2.87-2.95 per unit range in the latest auction conducted by GUVNL reports ET.

GUVNL’s 1000 MW tender was undersubscribed—Out of 1000MW the state utility received bids for only for 853 MW, of which the 745 MW was allotted.

The publication notes that tariffs have gone up substantially from last year’s auction conducted by the state where the winning tariffs were in the range of Rs 2.43-2.44 per unit.

Recently GUVNL cancelled a solar auction citing higher tariffs—the industry felt the future of this auction too would be uncertain.
